“You do not have to see the whole staircase to take the first steps”
– Martin Luther King Jr.
End-Clients
You might wonder what has this famous quote to do with us serving you. The staircase is a very flexible metaphor, and each step could be a step in any process. We see the staircase as the end-to-end implementation project where almost all End-Clients first want to figure everything out and then start with the initial steps. Later on when they actually start with the project they realize half of what they figured out can be thrown away. There can be a variety of reasons for this however the fact remains that almost all End-Clients want to know exactly how much the entire project would cost them and what they would get in return for it.
On top of this they are definitely not in favour of cost overruns. Yet almost 45% of implementations projects have to deal with cost overruns and 17 percent of these projects go so bad that they can threaten the very existence of the company, reported by McKinsey-Oxford.
We believe there should be a healthy balance between envisioning the whole staircase while taking the first steps.
Implementation projects
So how do End-Clients increase chances that their Implementation projects deliver the expected value on time and within budget? There are five main elements where we can assist End-Clients to achieve expected value on time and within budget. We are independent and we work with you to define the right strategy, demo the capabilities of the chosen application, assist building the right team both internal and external, assist in quality checks and propose continuous improvements.
While taking these five main topics in mind we assist you with some frequently occurring tasks which would otherwise take months to prepare when the implementation phase is started. Our consultants have worked with many well-known Partners therefore they will use tools which are common to these Partners. In doing so it will make their task easier while at the same time prevent cost overruns for the End-Clients.
Business process mapping
Requirement elicitation and preliminary fit-gap analyses – EADR
Build an overall architectural overview
Assist in carefully selecting the right Key-users, Partner and ISV’s
Start initial knowledge transfer of the chosen applications
Periodic Quality checks
Besides these, there are many other tasks such as assisting Key-users to define acceptance criteria, test scenario’s, perform tests, preliminary environment deployments and configurations, documentation, writing user manuals and training the end-users.
Due to our independent position between the Partner and End-client, we strive to create an overall win-win scenario for all parties. If we assist End-Clients with these frequently occurring tasks it will prevent unnecessary cost overruns in the future. Moreover it will also help the Partner to immediately start with delivering the solution. This will increase their chance of having a successful implementation on time and within budget.
